Diabetes is a chronic disease that can affect dogs and cats and other animals as well as humans.
There are 2 types of diabetes. Type 1 and Type 2. In type 1 diabetes your pancreas does not secrete insulin. In type 2 diabetes insulin resistance is observed and it is characterized by the inability of the cells in the body to ingest glucose and generate energy.
Although diabetes can’t be cured, it can be managed very successfully.
Diabetes mellitus, or “sugar diabetes,” is the type of diabetes seen most often in dogs. It is a with how the body converts food to energy.
In diabetes food is not properly converted into energy. This leads to lethargy and lack of energy in your dog.
