Cushing's Disease

Cushing’s disease is a serious condition of an excess of the steroid hormone cortisol in the blood level caused by a pituitary tumor secreting adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). ACTH is a hormone produced by the normal pituitary gland.
Cushing’s syndrome happens when your dog‘s body makes too much of a hormone called cortisol. This chemical help them respond to stress, control their weight, fight infections, and keep their blood sugar levels in check. But too much or too little of it can cause problems.
Cushing’s disease is rare in cats.
