Description
Description
Felycin-CA1 is the brand name for a prescription medication (sirolimus delayed-release tablets) used to manage subclinical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats. This heart condition is characterized by a thickening of the heart muscle walls, which can lead to congestive heart failure, blood clots, or sudden death.
Additional information
0.4 mg, 1.2mg, 2.4mg
12 Tabs.
The active ingredient in Felycin-CA1 is sirolimus, also known as rapamycin. In higher doses, sirolimus is used in human medicine as an immunosuppressant for organ transplant recipients.
Felycin-CA1 works by inhibiting the mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) signaling pathway. In cats with HCM, this pathway is involved in the abnormal growth of heart muscle cells. By modulating this pathway, the medication can slow or prevent the progression of the disease.
Before starting treatment, a cat must be screened for pre-existing liver disease. It should not be used in cats with existing liver disease or diabetes mellitus.
Bloodwork, including liver function tests, is required before and during treatment.
Some cats may experience lethargy, reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or elevated liver enzymes.
The manufacturer advises precautions when handling, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid contact
