Clopidogrel is an orally administered anti-platelet medication for dogs with underlying hypercoagulability or cats with cardiomyopathy. It is also known as Plavix, its Brand name. It is proven to have impressive anti-platelet drug activity in cats with a wide dosage range. For animals who are intolerant to aspirin, this medication is particularly useful. Clopidogrel and other cardiac medications are often used for asymptomatic cats who have HCM. It may also be prescribed for dogs to treat immune-mediated hemolytic anemia.
