Baytril Taste Tabs are antibacterial flavored tablets for dogs and cats. This medication is formulated for the management of diseases associated with certain bacteria including those causing skin, urinary and respiratory tract infections. Baytril kills a wide-range of disease-causing bacteria directly at the sight of infection and has been used for this purpose for over 20 years.
Uses
Baytril antibacterial tablets are indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, prostate, liver, GI tract and other body systems.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your veterinarian if your pet shows signs of anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting, elevated liver enzymes, depression, lethargy, nervousness or any other adverse reactions or behaviors.
Drug & Food Interactions
Compounds that contain metal cations (e.g., aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium) may reduce the absorption of this drug from the intestinal tract.
Precautions
Prescribing antibacterial drugs in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit to treated animals and may increase the risk of the development of drug resistant animal pathogens. Administer Enrofloxacin with caution in the presence of hepatic insufficiency/impairment. Please refer to the cat side of this package insert for Precautions related specifically to cats. Quinolones should be used with caution in animals with known or suspected central nervous system (CNS) disorders. In such animals, quinolones have, in rare instances, been associated with CNS stimulation, which may lead to convulsive seizures. Quinolones have been shown to produce erosions of cartilage of weight-bearing joints and other signs of arthropathy in immature animals of various species. The safety of Enrofloxacin in animals that are used for breeding or that are pregnant and/or lactating has not been demonstrated.
Recommended Dosage
Baytril tablets should be given by mouth, either once daily or split into two daily doses. Your veterinarian will determine the dose and frequency that’s best for your pet. Always follow your veterinarian’s instructions.
