It works with the help of a mineralocorticoid that acts on the kidney to help balance the amounts of sodium and potassium in the body. This medication may also be used to lower elevated levels of potassium in the blood. Customers may receive this drug under the name Florinef.
Uses
Fludrocortisone acetate tablets are indicated as partial replacement therapy for primary and secondary adrenocortical insufficiency in Addison’s disease and for the treatment of salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome.
This drug is FDA-approved for human use. However, it is common practice for veterinarians to prescribe such drugs for use in dogs and cats.
