Description
Methocarbamol is an oral medication prescribed by veterinarians to help treat muscle spasms in dogs and cats. More specifically, this relaxant is used to treat muscle spasms caused by acute inflammation, as well as traumatic conditions, or spasms occurring from poisoning. Methocarbamol comes in an oral tablet making it especially easy to disguise in your canine or feline’s favorite food. Customers may receive this drug under the names Robaxin, Robaxin V.
Uses
Methocarbamol Tablets are indicated as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects that have been reported include anaphylactic reaction, angioneurotic edema, fever, headache.
Cardiovascular system: Bradycardia, flushing, hypotension, syncope, thrombophlebitis.
Digestive system: Dyspepsia, jaundice (including cholestatic jaundice), nausea and vomiting.
Hemic and lymphatic system: Leukopenia.
Immune system: Hypersensitivity reactions.
Nervous system: Amnesia, confusion, diplopia, dizziness or lightheadedness, drowsiness, insomnia, mild muscular incoordination, nystagmus, sedation, seizures (including grand mal), vertigo.
Skin and special senses: Blurred vision, conjunctivitis, nasal congestion, metallic taste, pruritus, rash, urticaria.
Drug & Food Interactions
Methocarbamol Tablets should not be used in pets hypersensitive to methocarbamol or to any of the tablet components.
Precautions
Methocarbamol should not be used in pets hypersensitive to it or in animals to be used for food.
Recommended Dosage
Give this medication as directed by your veterinarian. If you forget a dose, give it as soon as possible but do not give two doses at the same time.
Storage Instructions
Store at controlled room temperatures between 68° – 77°F.
